75 Years of Making Disciples in Student Ministry

As Schweitzer Church celebrates 75 years of ministry, it’s worth remembering that generations of students have been part of that story the entire time. In the archival photos on this page, you will see students throughout the decades. No church can have stability and sustained growth without investing in the next generation. Even before anyone would have called it “Schweitzer Student Ministry,” young men and women were gathering here, chasing after the Father.

Some of you may even find yourselves in the photos because someone planted a seed in your life that grew over time. Conversations, mentors, and friendships helped make Schweitzer feel like home for you. Others of you may have a picture on a shelf of your children, proudly posing in matching outfits outside the sanctuary on Easter morning. You made this their church home as well. And today, many of you bring your children or grandchildren with you, trusting the ministries of Schweitzer in the hope that another seed will be planted and God will help it grow, just as He has done for so many before.

Many of you may have served in student ministry yourselves, walking alongside middle school and high school students as they navigate their faith, patiently planting seeds you may never see bloom.

Looking back over the past 75 years, we can see how those seeds have been planted in Schweitzer’s youth year after year. Now we pray that today’s students will carry that story forward into the next 75 years.
