An interview with Bob Casady

Here is a quick snapshot of three unique prayer offerings led by Bob Casady.

Healing Prayer Service

Why does Schweitzer offer this service? Bob believes that everyone needs healing in this fallen world, whether it’s psychological, physical, spiritual, or social. The service is held on the third Sunday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Student Center. Each month begins with a brief teaching on an aspect of healing prayer, covering topics such as inner healing, physical healing, and the significance of anointing oil. A time of ministry follows where individuals can receive prayer as needed. I can personally testify that these services have been very meaningful to me. Quick tip for Chiefs fans: consider setting your DVR and attending this wonderful service when you can. Note that in December, we’ll join the Longest Night Service on December 21 instead of the regular Healing Prayer Service.

Follow the Healer Class

This class explores biblical and theological foundations for healing ministry. This six-week class, based on Dr. Stephen A. Seamands’ book, is offered twice a year. The class provides a simple, accessible way to approach healing ministry, sparking meaningful discussions in small groups. It also offers guidance on receiving prayer and praying for others, allowing each of us to join in Jesus’ healing ministry.

Food Pantry Prayer Ministry

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the Schweitzer/Flourish Food Pantry welcomes around 100 guests between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Four volunteers serve by praying with guests after they receive food, offering a simple invitation: “Is there something I may pray with you about?” Bob shares that around 90% of guests accept the offer. Volunteers often feel blessed by the faith and courage of those they pray with. The love of Jesus flows powerfully in this ministry to a group in our community who may feel overlooked.

These are just a few of the prayer ministries available through Schweitzer. We encourage you to spread the word and consider getting personally involved!
