Prayer is one of the most important activities of our lives. Schweitzer Church offers many prayer opportunities including the following three options.
The first is individual prayer after each of the Sunday morning services. Having a convenient, confidential manner for brief prayer needs is essential for us to come together as a body for prayer. This occurs on an as-needed basis. At the end of each service, there is an announcement that prayer is offered at the front of the sanctuary or in the prayer room. Those seeking prayer simply need to step out and meet with one of our trained prayer intercessors. I can testify that these prayer times after the church services have been very meaningful to me.
We also can participate in prayer by appointment. The prayer-by-appointment team desires to connect those needing healing to Jesus through confidential prayer so that He might touch their lives and bring them to the full, abundant life He has for them. This opportunity is open to all and offers a longer time of prayer. Appointments can be made at schweitzer.church/prayer, by calling or texting the prayer line (417-881-6800), or by accessing the QR code seen below. After the initial contact, the team will assign two prayer intercessors (usually of the same gender) to meet at a convenient time.
This is an opportunity to allow all of us to be agents of prayer while we continue to practice the discipline of prayer.
Another unique prayer availability is the opportunity to write our concerns on slips of paper and place them into the beautiful wooden prayer wall on the east side of the Sanctuary. There is a similar prayer wall on the north wall of the Student Center. A third prayer wall is located in the Prayer Chapel in the garden. (Many may not be aware that all of the prayer walls have been modeled after the Western Wall in Jerusalem.) These prayer slips are collected by members of our prayer team, placed in the prayer box in the Sanctuary prayer room to be prayed over, and then later burned in our prayer garden as an offering to God.
