The Really Cool People of the Really Cool People Podcast

For years, I’ve believed Schweitzer Church should have a podcast. This church is rich with interesting personalities, deep history, and powerful stories just waiting to be shared. We needed only the right host and format to bring it all together.

Two years ago, Pastor Jason finally approached me with the perfect podcast idea that would capture the heart of our community in an engaging and meaningful way. Thus, the Really Cool People Podcast was born.

Each episode, we feature a guest (aka weekly cool person) who shares their life story so that listeners might be inspired, encouraged, and challenged. Now, two years in, we have featured 47 (and counting) really cool people, and as we enter our fifth season, we have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

There’s something interesting I’ve noticed while producing the show. At least nine out of ten guests walk into the studio, settle into their seat, and before we hit record, turn to Pastor Jason and say, “I don’t know why you wanted me to be on this podcast…” Most people seem to think they are not “cool enough” for our podcast. But every time, I smile because I know what’s coming next.

At the start of each episode, Pastor Jason quotes C.S. Lewis: “There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.” And wouldn’t you know it? Every single guest, whether they expected to or not, has had a cool story to tell.

If you’ve never listened to an episode of the Really Cool People Podcast, I encourage you to give it a try. This isn’t about boosting our numbers. It’s about giving you the chance to hear the remarkable, real-life stories of the really cool people in and around the Schweitzer community. Trust me: you’ll be glad you did.
