Each Christmas season, the radical generosity of the Schweitzer congregation serves as a shining light to our community. This generosity makes it easier to live out our mission of being a community-focused church.
In recent years, Schweitzer has partnered with Pittman Elementary to provide Christmas toys for families and students in various ways. These donations have blessed hundreds of kids, teachers, and families. Empowered by a legacy of generosity, this year we are expanding our Christmas outreach to include three more schools. On December 15 and 16, Schweitzer will host a Christmas Market that is open to parents/guardians with children who attend four local schools: Pittman, Pershing, Bingham, and Weller.
Our vision for this Christmas Market is to empower parents to be the heroes by making it easier for them to provide Christmas gifts for their families. The market will feature a wide selection of new toys, donated and sponsored by Schweitzer attendees as part of our annual Toy Drive. At the market, families will have an opportunity to select and purchase a variety of toys at bargain prices (e.g.: $1, $3 and $5). While parents shop, volunteers will have time to get to know them and pray with each family. Guests will be invited to take a quick break to enjoy cocoa and cookies while they have a few extra minutes and their kids are having fun with the Schweitzer Kids team.
All proceeds from the Christmas Market will be given back to the four schools. This means as families shop, they have the opportunity to support their local schools.
How can you get involved?
To have the best Christmas Market for families, we once again need your generosity. Please help fill up the toy donation bins at Schweitzer during our annual toy drive, which runs from Nov. 26 – Dec. 10.
We also need many volunteers to help set up the toy store and serve families during the two-day market. We are looking for greeters, table hosts, cashiers, gift wrappers, and childcare volunteers.
