The past few months have been busy in Flourish’s vertical communities. We officially held the ribbon cutting for Nordic Landing, and I have had the opportunity to get to know many residents during my weekly office hours both at Nordic Landing and the Y-Gardens. I especially love seeing how the residents support each other. One of my favorite moments from the summer was watching the most unlikely pair, a young girl aging out of foster care and an elderly woman who just lost her husband. They met at our ice cream social and offered support to one another. This was a glimpse of how God is moving in these communities.
We have many events planned for residents this fall. In addition to our office hours at each location, we plan to dive deeper into the community offering small group events for young adults, single moms, and also new Bible studies. Although these communities have challenges, the residents have much to offer each other and even the greater Springfield community. In fact, we are planning Serve Night and Good Neighbor Day Celebration as a way for residents to serve one another and their nearby community.
