Over the next few months, we come to the heart of the gospel of John. From September through November, we’ll read John 8-11. These chapters bring us some of the most iconic lines in the entire Bible.
Jesus says,
“I am the Light of the World.” (John 8:12)
“I am the Gate.” (John 10:7)
“I am the Good Shepherd.” (John 10:11)
“I am the Resurrection and the Life.” (John 11:25)
These aren’t just poetic phrases. These are bold declarations of who Jesus is and why he matters. In these chapters, Jesus confronts the darkness of this world, the hardness of our hearts, our slavery to sin, and ultimately our great enemy: the grave.
In these chapters, we’ll see that Jesus doesn’t just talk about how he does these things. We’ll see it in action. He forgives the sinner. He opens the eyes of the blind. He even calls the dead out of the grave. Every line in John is drawing us deeper into the reality that life with Jesus is abundant, secure, and unshakeable.
On September 28, we’ll release Volume 3 of our daily Bible reading guide for the Gospel of John. This volume will carry us forward in our year-long journey through this Gospel. The daily guide has daily Bible reading, prayer guides, and places to take notes. This will be a helpful tool whether you’ve kept pace with the readings or are just joining the journey.
God is Faithful.
