Many in our community have faced profound hardship and endured cycles of dysfunction, yet they hold a strong desire for change. They long to leave behind a painful past and build a future grounded in hope and stability—but often lack the support, skills, and resources to make that transformation possible. This longing fuels the mission of Flourish CDC, whose programs walk alongside individuals and families as they pursue lasting renewal. Here are articles about four of these programs and the life-changing impact they’re making in our community: Coach House, Food Pantry, Flourish Girls, and J.U.M.P.
nnocent faces fill the room. Some with bright eyes, others with tough exteriors. But, behind them lie stories far too heavy for middle school shoulders. Many of these girls come from low-income households, single-parent or blended families, or live with extended relatives and friends. Their lives are shaped by instability, and too often, they lack the positive support every child deserves.
Their school is a haven of compassion, staffed by educators who fight daily against the tide of socioeconomic hardship. But the challenges are real: chronic absenteeism, low academic performance, discipline struggles, and graduation rates that fall short of hope. These girls are at a crossroads, and without intervention, the path ahead may mirror the hardship behind.
That’s where Flourish Girls steps in.
For 90 minutes each week, during a school day, Flourish creates a sacred space, a pause from chaos, a breath of possibility. The 60 girls receive a warm meal and a life-affirming lesson. They are reminded of their worth, their beauty, their potential. They are seen, heard, and loved.
Through stories, activities, and mentorship, they begin to believe in themselves. Confidence grows. Decision-making strengthens. Dreams take root. They learn that their circumstances do not define their future, that there is a world of possibilities within reach.
Flourish Girls is more than a program. It’s a lifeline. It’s the whisper that says, “You matter. You are capable. You are loved.” And for these precious girls, that whisper can become a roar that carries them toward a life filled with purpose, promise, and hope.
Please support this program through prayers for these girls, for the Pipkin Middle School faculty, and for the leaders of Flourish Girls. In addition, a financial gift of $120 will sponsor one of these girls’ participation in the program through the spring semester.
