“A body you have prepared for Me…” Hebrews 10:5
This verse speaks of our Savior’s physical body as the sacrifice for our sins. Yet Ephesians 1:22-23 tells us the Church also is His body—singular and physical, yet collective and spiritual. You cannot have one without the other. Schweitzer Church has flourished for 75 years by living out this truth.
First Corinthians 12:12-27 illustrates that as the physical body is one with many members, so is Christ’s body. The physical body is more than just an eye or a hand, because if it weren’t, it wouldn’t be a body. No one member can deny being part of the whole, and all have been placed in His body exactly where He wants them.
Romans 12:4-5 further explains that each member has specific gifts for specific functions to serve and build His body. Christ’s body is so deeply integrated that all members share in the suffering of the one. Allowing and encouraging each member to exercise his or her God-given gifts has helped Schweitzer grow and mature.
Schweitzer Church will continue to be a blessing and bring glory to God as we are faithful to this truth—and will continue to be a wonderful part of “a body you have prepared for Me.”
