God created us for connection! Connection with Him and with others. The drive to emotionally attach, to find someone to whom we can turn and say, “Hold me tight,” is wired into our mind, soul, and spirit. Love drives us to bond emotionally with precious few others who offer us safe haven from the storms of life.

So, why is it at times so challenging to feel fully connected to our spouse? Deepening Your Connection in Marriage is a class that offers couples an opportunity to learn about emotional needs, increase awareness of themselves and their spouse, and experience a deeper connection. The goal is to help couples repair, enhance, and continually grow their love relationship as God intended. Couples are given insight into the nature of love and the key moments that shape a love relationship. This can increase awareness of how to meet their spouse’s emotional needs.

Libby and Jack Hardy will facilitate this eight-week workshop at Schweitzer. Libby is a retired Marriage and Family Therapist, and Jack is a retired Professional Counselor and Executive Coach. In total, they have over 35 years of experience working with clients.

This workshop is limited to eight couples and will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15am–10:45am in Room 106, September 13 to November 15.

Attendees of the class’s pilot offering at Schweitzer had this to say:

“We found the class helpful for opening up lines of communication, and it gave us direction for things we can do for the health of our relationship in the future.”

“The class gave us a helpful new lens for understanding our marriage—particularly around how we respond to one another’s deeper needs for connection and security in the relationship. The material and discussions provided practical tools for recognizing the patterns couples can get stuck in and how to respond to each other in healthier, more supportive ways. What stood out to us most was how relevant the class was for couples at any stage of marriage.”

“This class gave us the chance to have meaningful conversations and learn alongside other couples.”
