Wow! It is hard to believe a very busy year with the tutors program at Pittman Elementary is in the last quarter! This year, we were blessed with five new Reading Buddies, bringing the total to 15. It’s been so rewarding to see the progress of our students.
The students are so happy to have one-on-one attention from us for 30 minutes, and the teachers who might have 50 percent of their class reading below grade level are thrilled to
have our support. We are so thankful for Schweitzer’s support.
Outreach activities like the Last Blast Back-to-School bash, the backpack program, Fall Festival, and Pittman Christmas Toy store have brought us closer to teachers and parents in the Pittman Community. Additionally, The Council of Churches provides us with excellent training, supplies, and support throughout the school year for the Reading Buddy program.
Looking ahead to next school year, we would love to have you join us. June and July are the best months to get your application started with the Council of Churches Reading Buddy program and Springfield Public Schools.
