Each week our Schweitzer Kids team spends time getting to know kids and families at our church and community. We have two leaders who help guide this ministry. Stiffany Taylor leads as the Director of Kids Ministry, K-6th, and Taylor Zen as the Director of Kids Ministry, Birth through Pre-K.
We love getting to see their shared heart for caring for the next generation. While they work under the same department with similar titles, their roles are quite different, as are their personalities and interests. For Christmas, we challenged them to decorate a Christmas tree in a way that described each of their personalities.
Stiffany’s theme featured cows, cookies, trucks, and a lot of flair. Taylor went for a more earthy vibe with mushrooms, woodland creatures and polka dots.
When it comes to ministry, you’ll find Stiffany hanging with kids in K-6th grades in spaces that encourage small group activities. On Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights, kids grow in their relationship with God and their peers.
Taylor focuses on developing relationships with parents and kids as newborns enter into the program, become toddlers, and move into preschool. A new focus includes building a connection between the Grow to Know Preschool and Schweitzer Kids. In January, Taylor’s team will launch a new program called “Moms of Minis.” This is designed to encourage moms of preschoolers and will meet once a month on Saturdays beginning January 27.
This year, we hosted several family-focused opportunities where Schweitzer Kids and Students partnered together. Taylor shared the joint vision behind these larger gatherings.
“We want to create opportunities for parents to build relationships with their kids and other parents as well through family-centric events. We believe the whole family should feel supported by the church.”
