Through our Coach House transformational program for women, we have seen first-hand the outcome of lives filled with destructive behavior due to shattered self-image. In most cases, their circumstances result from really bad lifestyle choices due to a lack of a positive support system and early effective role modeling.
As a result, Flourish asked the question, “What if we could go back in time and engage with these women in their formative years…” How different might their lives have been?
Flourish is excited to launch Flourish Girls, an intervention program for at-risk middle school girls. The program will launch at Pipkin Middle School. Pipkin’s principal and school counselors were so enthusiastic about this program that they took the unusual step of making Flourish Girls a weekly during-the-school-day activity.
Through instruction, mentorship, and activities, we will instill hope, build self-esteem and confidence, and enhance essential soft skills, equipping and empowering participants to overcome adversity and make positive choices. We believe this program can be the “ounce of prevention” in these young girls’ lives, helping them to recognize that they do have a choice. They can choose a better path. They can avoid a life of drug use, violence, absenteeism, promiscuity, and other destructive behaviors.
Flourish will support, encourage, equip, and inspire these students each week to build successful lives. We will connect by sharing a meal together, then utilize instruction, videos, esteem-building activities, and team challenges to internalize and apply the weekly theme.
