We’re not quite into spring yet, but we can feel it coming! We anticipate longer days, a little more sunshine, the shades of green popping out, flowers blooming, more time for outdoor activities (like kayaking for me), and much more.
This is also a time of anticipation in the church calendar as we look ahead to Easter. Lent is the season when we prepare and wait for what’s coming. During this season, people often intentionally “give up” something for 40 days. Some people choose to focus on prayer or Scripture meditation. This period can be a “reset” or intentional time of REST from the everyday commodities… and it all helps us focus forward.
This issue of the Spark highlights everything happening between Ash Wednesday and Easter, plus a little extra. You’ll read stories of life-change in the lives of people including Mary Magdalene and more recently Jose Ortiz, who was baptized this year at Schweitzer.
We hope you enjoy this issue and share it with friends to invite them to Easter and many of the ways folks can get connected at Schweitzer this spring.
