Tell us your story, how you came to commit your life to Jesus?
The doctor told my mother that I would not live to be born. My mother’s response was “to give this child to God.” I knew nothing of this until my twenties, but I credit this action with the blessings that have followed me all my life. I simply cannot remember not feeling loved by God, loving God in return, and longing to please God with my life. I learned Bible stories and songs before I could read. Jesus became my Lord and Savior before the church said I was old enough to be baptized.
What is your understanding of service to the Kingdom of God?
To bring honor and glory to God with all I am, do, or say. To tell the story of the love of Jesus in every thought, word, and deed of my life. To join with a community of believers as we serve others so that they may see the light and love of Jesus.
What energy, experience, and skills do you bring to the board?
I highly value being a part of a Christ-centered and community-focused church. I respect the past, love the present, and am committed to the future of our church. I understand that we are required to be good stewards of what we have and, therefore, must act now to plan and prepare for the future of our ministry.
What is your understanding of the Foundation Board’s mission?
To be wise stewards of the gifts we receive to further the mission and vision of the church.
How would you encourage the people of Schweitzer to engage with the mission of the Foundation Board?
Pray about giving a donation or legacy gift to the Foundation. Take part in classes and seminars sponsored by the Foundation.
