With the new year upon us, many of us find ourselves taking an inventory of our lives, thinking through
questions like what went well this year and what habits we want to pick up in the new year. However, even as we examine many areas of our lives, how often do we take a spiritual inventory? Now is a great time to reflect on your spiritual journey, both past and future, perhaps by answering these two questions:
- Where and how might God be inviting me to meet with him?
- In what ways am I becoming more like Jesus?
Knowing the direction in which you’re moving will help shine a light on your next steps, but as always, I don’t recommend that you embark on the next leg of your spiritual journey by yourself. As an old proverb states, “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” There are many upcoming opportunities to join with others in following Jesus. Here are just a few of the options coming up, with many more coming soon.
A 12-week deep dive into the theology of John Wesley and the Methodist movement, meeting on Zoom. Limited to 10 participants, the $50 course welcomes anyone—whether exploring ordination or simply seeking spiritual growth—and includes optional certification for those who complete the assigned reading and writing.
A six-week class exploring uncommon and dynamic ways people pray in our culture. Come and experience some forms of prayer you may not be familiar with.
A chronological daily reading plan with about 12 minutes of Scripture and an 8-minute recap. The class will help you grow spiritually as we discuss each week’s readings together. If there is enough interest, we will offer another class at 10:45am—contact cory@schwietzer.church.
