Spring has sprung, and new growth is around the corner—literally!
The Neighborhood Garden, sponsored by Schweitzer Church, is located on Oak Grove Avenue. It opened on April 1st, marking the start of the planting season for the gardeners in our local community. As the last traces of winter frost dissolve into the damp earth, there is a distinct shift in the air. For many of us, the arrival of spring isn’t just a change in weather—it’s a call to stewardship and a reminder that nothing grows in isolation. A successful garden season isn’t built on seeds alone, but on preparation. Together, the Schweitzer Student Ministry, Royal Rangers, and several adult volunteers rolled up their sleeves a few weeks ago and put in the hard work to prepare this garden space for our neighbors. Their kingdom work is greatly appreciated.
While the garden is still small, we see the potential for greater kingdom impact and are excited to see what grows there this season. As the seeds begin to stir beneath the soil, may we also find meaningful ways to gather, knowing that just as a garden is more beautiful when diverse plants flourish side-by-side, our lives are more fruitful when we nurture the bonds of friendship and community with our neighbors. We are hopeful that these small garden beds can be the catalyst for continued growth in the relationships made with our neighbors in this community.
