My experience on the Brazil mission trip was meaningful and rewarding. It helped me realize how fulfilling helping others can be and how I can benefit from it as well. Providing simple gifts, like a family photo, felt special. Not because of the gift, but because of how God used it. Seeing the looks of joy after handing out the photos made me more grateful for all I have. A major point that many on the team agreed on was that the trip impacted both the Americans and the Brazilians. Connecting with people and spreading God’s word helped all of us grow closer to God and to each other.

Wow, my first mission trip! When I first heard about this trip, I was terrified to go, but I am completely in awe of the Lord and the ways he could use me on the Amazon in Brazil. The Holy Spirit was so evident to me that week in so many little ways.
While I have so much to say, I will share some highlights. First, I worked in kids ministry and got to meet so many amazing kids and people. Just seeing smiles on all the kids’ faces brought me so much joy, and I don’t think I will ever forget that. In every village, we taught the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000, and it reminded me of how God can do so much for us with so little. I found that these kids quickly understood and related to this story, and that was so special to see.
Second, the Amazon itself, even sleeping on the boat, was a great experience.
Our hosts and translators were so fantastic, and it was hard to say goodbye to such incredible people with incredible stories. Being able to witness their community show love to everyone taught me so much. Lastly, I am so grateful for the experience of this mission trip. Sometimes all God asks for is a simple “yes.” A yes to being uncomfortable, a yes to trusting Him, and a yes to going wherever He leads. I can’t wait to go on more mission trips like this in the future.
