As a parent for many years and now a grandparent, I can safely say this: Parenting is hard work. My grandchildren, whom I typically call ‘the Grands,’ were just in Springfield for summer vacation. My wife and I gave them a tour with local sights, sounds, and tastes to show them what the Ozarks has to offer. The Grands even made it to our Kids Ministry on the Sunday they were in town. It was wonderful to witness them being taught the Word of God by our amazing team.
Schweitzer Church is looking into the needs of our parents and families. We will continue to offer a Christ-centered curriculum that is vibrant and rooted in Scripture. We are also asking how we can assist parents and grandparents in this fast-paced world. What Schweitzer needs to be aware of is a prime concern for our Next Generation Ministries. Parents find themselves in ever-changing ages and stages of their children’s development. It’s a busy world, but we are focused on crafting spiritual formation moments with your kids and grandkids.
So, where do we start? Like all things in the Christian life, prayer is the beginning place, asking God for insight and influence. We are praying as we develop and assess what parenting ministry will look like here. We are also meeting and connecting with parents at various ages and stages! We will continue to be in prayer and have met with several parents, hearing where they are and what Schweitzer Church can offer their families. It’s an exciting season as we cultivate something new and beneficial for our families.
