Summer often brings changing schedules, vacations, and time away, but one thing that hasn’t slowed down at Schweitzer is our Young Adult Ministry. It’s been exciting to see college-aged adults continue pursuing Christ, building friendships, and growing in their faith through several opportunities designed just for them.
Our main Young Adults gathering meets on the first and third Mondays from 7–9pm in the Student Lounge. Each evening combines fun and fellowship with meaningful Bible study. Whether it’s Pickleball, 9 Square, trips to Sonic or Andy’s, or just sharing pizza together, these gatherings create a welcoming environment where young adults can connect. Young Adult Leader, Braden Baker, has been challenging the group with thoughtful, Christ Centered teaching.
On Sunday evenings, our Student Director, Robert Freeman, and his wife, Chelsie, host a Young Adults Bible study in their home. They meet (as Robert puts it), “from 7 to whenever!” This relaxed setting has become a place where authentic community and spiritual growth thrive. When the Freemans are away, our Middle School Pastor, Justin Hedges, opens his home so the group can continue meeting.
This summer also brought a new opportunity as our Director of Global Missions, Shelley Rogers, launched a Sunday morning Bible study that meets at 11:00am in Room 211. The group welcomes high school seniors and young adults ages 18–25, helping bridge the transition into adult life and faith.
It’s encouraging to see so many young adults investing in their relationship with Christ during the summer months. Through these gatherings, they are discovering biblical community, lasting friendships, and a place to belong.
If you are a young adult/college student, or if you know someone who is, we invite you to join us. There’s a place for you.
